2019 African Games : Crush Egypt, South Africa, others in the battle for medals, Dalung charges Team Nigeria

Ahead of the 2019 African Games to be hosted in the Moroccan capital city of Rabat, Bar. Solomon Dalung has charged Team Nigeria to crush and relegate Egypt, South Africa and others in the battle for medals, stressing that Nigeria has all it takes to emerge top at the games, totorinews.com reports exclusively.

Bar. Dalung informed that with adequate preparation and motivation, Team Nigeria have all it takes to come top as the overall champions of the games after currently being champions of Africa in eight of the sports that will be competed for at the African Games this year.
“From the records that various national sports federations have produced, Nigeria is champion in eight of the sports. Nigeria is Africa champions in eight of these sports. So as African champions in eight sports , of course more is expected from Nigeria at the African Games this year.” Dalung told totorinews.com
“We must go to African Games this year in Morocco and tell Egypt, South Africa and others  that this time, their positions properly comes after Nigeria. There is no pretence about it.

“Nigeria must take her rightful place at the All Africa Games because from the record of participation at the games, Nigeria is heading for the first position this time,” he added.
Knowing fully well the enormous task in getting the funds that will be needed  to prepare Team Nigeria to perform at their optimal best at the games, Bar. Dalung said that he has briefed President Mohammadu Buhari about the funding of Team Nigeria and Mr. President has assured Team Nigeria will not lack funding in their quest to be the best in Africa.
“Team Nigeria must be prepared. This is a very critical competition ahead that needs funding and Mr. President has assured  that he was going to take it up and ensured that the funds will be released for preparations of these athletes.

“The welfare of the athletes and officials of Team Nigeria must be taken care of. The image of the country must not only be maintained, but also be promoted,” he concluded.
Team Nigeria participated at the 2015 All Africa games in Brazzaville, Congo with 571 athletes in 21 sporting events. Nigeria came second behind Egypt, with 47 gold medals, 55 Silver medals and 42 bronze medals, winning a total of 144 medals. South Africa came third at the Brazzaville games.
The 12th African Games will take place from 19 August to 31 August in Rabat, Morocco. The first time Morocco will be hosting the African “Olympics” sports show piece.
