Two well deserved penalty kicks converted in each half earned Oyah Sports FC of Suleja the maximun three points against enterprising FC Solid of Plateau state in the star match of match day one in the Nationwide League One played on Thursday.
The game that had top football stakeholders in attendance, witnessed thrilling actions from both sides, with Oyah Sports piling more pressures early in the game in the search of an early which eventually came in the 36th minute after Ishaku Jubrin was hacked down in the box a minute earlier and the resultant penalty was perfectly converted into the net by Ogadi Ezeorah.
The goal advantage was the needed tonic for Oyah Sports as they dominated the remaining minutes of the first half searching for more goals which forced Ibrahim Benjamin in goal for FC Solid to make a magnificent save in the 43rd minute to deny Mark Eze from increasing the tally to two.
Ibrahim again rescued FC Solid from conceeding another goal in the 45th minute when he saved a low drive by Iro Stephane as the game remained at 1-0 going into the break.
FC Solid looked more purposeful in the second half with their enterprising interchange of passes among themselves, as they created chances for an equaliser in quick successions in the 50th minute, but Oyah Sports goalkeeper, Abdulwahad Abdullahi was very agile to deny the away team the equaliser.
The defenders of Oyah Sports were resolute in the defence as they thwarted the efforts of FC Solid in the opening minutes of the second half to regain the control of the midfield and they started to build the attack from there.
In the 56th ,Michael Odey was set up with a fine through pass from Mubarak Hamza but the striker fired wide off target but three minutes later, the striker was impeded by Ibrahim inside the box and the referee was spot on to award another penalty to the host team.
Odey stepped up and neatly displaced the goalkeeper to fire the shot into the net for the second goal in the 60th minute and from there, Oyah Sports became more dominant , having more of the possessions and creating more goalscoring opportunities but the reflexes of Ibrahim ensured that the scoreline remained 2-0 at the end of 90 minutes.
