There is a silent development  of Archery in Nigeria with over 500 active participants in the country and the sport has great potentials to thrive says Muhammed Abdullahi, President of the Nigeria Archery Federation.

Abdullahi  disclosed this to totorinews.com at the closing ceremony of the second edition of National Archery Game Clinic for Beginners and Train the Trainers Workshop in Abuja on Friday. He said that the Federation has not yet hit the ground running for the sport,  but the zeal shown by Nigerians  is awesome.

“We have not really hit the ground.  We just started but I can inform you that presently we have over 500 active participants of Archery in Nigeria that are practising this sport at the backyard of their houses and some at more organised environment.” Abdullahi told totorinews.com

“We are looking forward to take the sport to the next level in Nigeria.  We have seen Nigerian archers  hit the target five times when just given 40 arrows here but at the International competitions, an archer can be given 100 arrows and asked to hit the target five times,” he added.

Speaking further,  he said : “If you give Nigerian archers 100 arrows, they will hit target 40 times.  The potentials for archery is great and the zeal on the side of the practitioners is very encouraging.

“We are not settling for anything less in archery and by the time we hit the ground to get to the international scene, I am very sure that are efforts will be justified and yield benefits,” he said.
