As Manu Garba, the chief coach of the Golden Eaglets contiues with the preparation of the team for the FIFA Cadet world cup in Brazil in October, he may be having selections headache with the sublime performances of the teenage players in the camp.
One of the players is Gideon Asuquo, a well built athletic striker, who dazzled in the attack of his team, scoring a brace and creating two assists as his side won the keenly contested training session 4-2 that had the atmosphere of a real match game.
Asuquo, one of the players from the Nigeria’s U 16 team invited to the U 17 camp, proved how lethal he could be inside the box as he converted his chance from the box with a precised cool finish at the top corner that the goalkeeper did not have answer to.
His second game came via a counter attack when his team intercepted a pass and immediately launched an attack at the opposing end. It was quick and fluid attacking movement and he was well positioned to nod home his second goal of a pull out from the right side of the midfield.
There is no doubt that Asuquo has the potentials to develop his game into becoming a great striker in the future judging by his overall performance, but he is still a work in progress at just 16 years old.
