Ahead of bye elections in Bayelsa state in October, Brig. Gen. Abdulsalam Dahiru rtd, the chairman of APC electoral committee has charged returning officers to be transparent.
He disclosed this in Yenogoa, the capital of Bayelsa state on Thursday, while addressing the local government and ward officers on the need to ensure transparency in their discharge of their duties in the forthcoming bye election in the state.
The bye elections will take place in two senatorial districts (Bayelsa West and Central districts), with eight candidates vying to be called distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Capt. Matthew Karimo, Hon. Omonikeke Kemelayefa and Ebebi Peremobowei are the candidates contesting for the bye election in Bayelsa West Senatoria District.
The Bayelsa Central Senatorial District have five candidates going for the position of a senator. Bar. Festus Dauniebi Sunday, Abel Ebifemowei, Timipa Tiwel Orunimigbe, Hon. Henry Daniel Ofongo and Ambassador Godknows Igali.
The bye election is stated for October 31, 2020.
