Francis Achi, Abuja
As the 19th National Sports Festival comes to an end on Sunday with Team Delta leading convincingly with 85 gold medals on the table, it is interesting to note that Ifeakachukwu Nmoh is the rave of the moment in Team Delta with nine gold medals and three silver medals in swimming events, reports totorinews.com

With His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state promising N1m for a gold medal won by a Delta Athlete at the festival, Nmoh is now N9m richer courtesy of the nine gold medals he won at the different categories of the swimming events and this goes to show how financial motivation can spur an athlete to podium success.

Speaking with totorinews.com in Abuja on Thursday after achieving his noble feat at the festival, Nmoh said that he has been swimming for the past 12 years, but he started representing Delta state 8 years ago.

“Swimming comes naturally to me. I have been swimming for more than 12 years now and it has been 8 years that I started representing Delta state in swimming competitions.” Nmoh said.
