Impressive Iwobi loses on his debut with Everton

Manya Kuzabachat, Kaduna

Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi had a very impressive  debut for Eveton on Friday night, unfortunately it ended in a 2 -0 defeat at Villa park in favour of Aston Villa.

The former Arsenal player replaced Gyfil Sigurdsson in the 61st minute of the thrilling encounter when his team was a goal down and he began to make an impact with his deft touches and creative passes in the search of an equaliser.

Brazilian giant striker , Wesley Moraes had earlier opened the net for Aston Villa in the 22nd minute, but Everton players were still very hopeful of equaliser with  Iwobi coming very close to making a fantastic debut but his well placed low drive from his left foot inside the box hit the goal post in the 82nd minute.

Sadly, Everton conceded the second goal in the 95th minute against the run of play from a counter attack which was perfectly netted into goal by Substitute Anwar El Ghazi with Moraes providing the assist.

It is the first defeat of Everton in the league this season.
