NNL: Oyah Sports and Kogi United in a stalemate affair

New entrance to the Nigeria National League, Oyah Sports FC of Suleja played a goaless draw with visiting Kogi United on opening fixture of new season on Sunday at Area 3 ground, Abuja.

Oyah Sports approached their much illustrious opponents with caution as they tried to have more of the ball poseessions and control of the game.

However, it was Kogi United that threatened to score in the 7th minute  when Abdulwahab Jubril outpaced his marker before delivering a cross into Oyah’s box but Omajagu Umoru arrived late to hit the target.

And in another twist, Oyah Sports FC looked very dangerous to open scoring when Odeyemi Rasaq penetrated the  defense of Kogi United  but his shot was was denied the target  by Stephen Musa, captain of the away team.

Few minutes later, Ledley Djedje also missed another oppprtunity  for the hosts to hit the back of the net after being set up  with a through pass by enterprising  Ezeora Ogadi, skipper of the host team.

As time ticked towards the end of first half Salisu Ogbe dived full lenght to parry Djedje’s ferocious shot to a corner. It was a wonderful save to the relief of the away team.

Free flowing football continued  from both sides in the second half as it was an attacking football from both teams, but unfortunately it ended in stalement at the end of 90 minutes.

There is no denying the fact that it was indeed a good game with a very fair officiating from the match officials appointed by the Referee’s Appointment Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Oyah Sports will be making a trip to Birnin Kebbi to tackle Kebbi United, while Kogi United will entertain Kada City on match day two of the NNL .
