Power tussle for the forthcoming leadership of the Green Chamber has taken another twist, as North Central Elders Forum, publicly declared for their son- Honorable Ahmed Idris Wase to lead 9th lower chamber as the “Speaker”, totorinews.com reports.
According to the leader of the forum, Mohammed Ari Gwaska, he gave reasons for thier quest citing the massive support the region played at the just concluded 2019 Presidential elections that gave victory for Mr President and returned All Progressive Congress (APC) to power.
Ari Gwaska however, bemoans zoning out the speakership position of 9th Assembly to South west
“We in the North Central Geo-political zone strongly consider zoning of 9th Assembly speaker, to South west as ‘ Unfair ‘ treatment to our zone.
“The appropriation of positions of office after electoral victory is a negotiated tradition,based on loyalty and strength “he argued
“The North central zone has demonstrated loyalty and strength to rulling Party(APC), by increasing its votes from Two Million. Four hundred and eleven thousand, and Thirteen(2,411,013) in 2015, to Two million, four hundred and sixty -Five thousand, Five hundred and ninety -Nine (2.465,599 .) in the 2019 Presidential election; compared to the decline in South west from two million, four hundred and thirty -three thousand, one hundred and ninety -three (2,433,193) votes in 2015 to two million, thirty -six thousand, five hundred and fifty (2,036,450.) votes in 2019” he analyzed to newsmen in Abuja.
Honourable Ahmed idris Wase is one of the high ranking members of the house of Representative, having represented his consistency 3 times, even as his people believed he should be chosen as the Speaker of 9th Assembly, based on his years of experience in the Green chamber.
The Plateau State Pragmatic politician, has been part of reckoning since he came to house of Assembly in 2007, having been member of different important committees; During the 7th & 8th Assembly.
