Revealed : How Mouktar is administering Football in Abuja

There is no doubt that football in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja has taken a different dimension since the emergence of youthful Mohammed Adam Mouktar as the chairman of the FCT Football Association last year.

According to Ngozi Ezeh, a board member of the FCT FA, the youthful chairman is making football exciting with some of his noble innovations and programs for football development, with emphasis on grassroot and his main focus are the coaches and players.

She said that football coaches are enjoying fresh air of empowerment with the benevolence of the chairman, who has sponsored many coaches in the FCT to improve their knowledge of the game at the Nigeria Institute of Sports, Abuja and just recently concluded NPFL LA LIGA Coaching Course in Abuja.

Another thing of note from football administration in the FCT is the Beach Soccer League that is being planned to commence soon and she believes that the Beach Soccer League will create more avenues for the youths to have meaningful engagement with football.

Ezeh, who also doubles as a football coach and one of the participants at the NPFL LA LIGA Coaching Course in Abuja said that Abuja coaches are very grateful for what Mouktar has done to impact the knowledge of the coaches as he sees them as critical stakeholders to develop football at the grassroot.

“There is no sincere football stakeholder in FCT that will not admit that Mohammed Adam Mouktar has really done well with the way he is administering football in Abuja since he became the chairman last year,” Ezeh said.

“20 Abuja coaches participated at the NPFL LA LIGA  Coaching Course in Abuja. This was the first time we had such numbers of coaches to take part and the coaches learnt a lot in the course. FCT coaches have really gained a lot under his administration.

“Just last December, the chairman sponsored 20 coaches to NIS coaching course and he also brought Bayern Munich coaches to train Abuja coaches last month. 

“All these are his initiatives and at his expenses, all for the development of football in FCT. Within three months, Abuja coaches have learnt from Nigerian, German and Spanish football tacticians, which is very good for our knowledge.

“In few days time, Abuja will be having her first beach soccer tournament. There is a plan to have beach soccer league in Abuja and this tournament is just to water the ground for the beach soccer league that will involve the Local Government Areas in the FCT.

“Some people call the chairman “Digital  Chairman” for the ways he does things, the more local people like me and the rest of us calls him “talk and do chairman” and it is very evidence that football has taken giants strides in FCT.

“As coaches, our major aim to is develop football talents that will represent Nigeria and win laurels for the country. We will continue to work hard towards that goal,” she concluded.
