A team that eliminated the host nation, Egypt from the AFCON 2019 cannot be underrated says Keneth Omeruo, Super Eagles central defender, totorinews reports.
Super Eagles will tackle Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a quarter – final confrontation at the Cairo international stadium on Wednesday and Omeruo, who has shown tremendous form in the tournament, with a goal to his credit is of the firm opinion that South Africa parades a very good and despite Nigeria having a better head – head winning statistcs, Super Eagles must not underrate the Stuart Baxter tutored side.
“We dare not underrate the Bafana Bafana. The team is good to have defeated Egypt.Therefore, we have to be at alert, avoid mistakes and play with focus on winning the game.” Omeruo told totorinews.com
“The game will be difficult. This is the quarter final of AFCON and we cannot be complacent at this stage. We will continue to play as a team, play for another, cover one another and ensure that will get it right against South Africa,” he continued.
“Whatever result, statistics between the two teams are in the past. The present is the quarter final game against South Africa and we are determined to win the game.
“Our objective remain to win the AFCON 2019 tournament , but we will take each game as it comes,” he said.
