Those sponsoring attacks against President Muhammadu Buhari – led APC government are wasting their time and resources says Aminu Balele Kurfi, chieftain of the ruling party, www.totorinews.com reports.

Kurfi disclosed this while speaking to the media in Abuja, as he noted that democratic government gives opportunities for different qualified candidates from all over the country to vie for election into the office of their choice, stating that only the electorates have the power to vote into the office the candidates desired.

Unfortunately, some politicians, after losing elections wants to be tools to be used to destabilise the country in the name of protests, which he opined that it will always be exercise that will end in futility.

“Somebody who lost election in Nigeria in his state, someone who lost in his state, local government and polling unit. He could not win and he will now come back to organise a revolution protest.” Kurfi told www.totorinews.com

“Who do you think will follow him? Those who are sponsoring him are just deceiving themselves, wasting their resources and time.

He added support to the call earlier made by Mamman Daura, another chieftain of the APC, that the presidency of Nigeria should be based on zoning, rather it should be by competency of the presidential candidate from any part of the country.

“There is nothing in advising that Nigerians should go for a presidential candidate that is very competent for the job, that the presidency of Nigeria should not be about zoning, but competency.

‘In 1993, late MKO Abiola won election in my polling unit. I am from Kurfi in Katsina state. Bashir Tofa hails from Kano state. Abiola won in Kano state, even at the polling unit of Tofa.

“Late Shehu Musa Yar’dua during the primaries won in Lagos against Lateef Jakande. He won in Oyo state, Rivers state. We had Sergeant Awuse from Rivers state. Lamidi Adedibu from Oyo state. There were also Dapo Sarunmi, Yomi Edun, yet Shehu Musa Yar’dua cruised to victory.

“So, Mamman Daura freely expressed his personal opinion and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, but those sponsoring attacks, protests to destabilize the government are wasting their resources,” he concluded.
