Despite Nasarawa United defeating visiting Katsina United 3-0 on Sunday evening, there was nothing to celebrate as their dependable defender Chineme Martins died on the pitch.
The defender slumped while standing alone but he had a collision with Katsina United player earlier before he slumped and collapsed on the pitch.
Efforts to revive him by the medics and subsquent rush to the hospital proved unhelpful as he gave up the ghost.
Unfortunately, drama of the absurd was witnessed as Peugeot 406 Ambulance stationed at match venue before kickoff failed to start and had to be pushed while the player battled for his life on the pitch before finally giving up the ghost according to NSM WhatsApp sports platform.
The Peugeot ambulance still failed to start and it was the PRESS CREW BUS that was eventually used to convey player to hospital as he struggled for breath before finally giving up the ghost.
