Why is Rohr tarrying on Babatunde Michael?

Talents are like open wounds, only using them at the right time will only benefit everyone, including Super Eagles’ coach Gernot Rohr.

The super talent in question is Babatunde Michael, the mercurial midfielder in the middle of the pack for Moroccan giants, Wydad Casablanca and the former Raja Casablanca star has continued to make bold statements for his deserved Eagles’ inclusion since late Eagles’ coach Stephen Keshi spotted him and added him into the Eagles’ mix.

Michael proved he was a top commodity when he dazzled at the Brazil 2014 World Cup though injury didn’t let show himself well but he had done well enough to prove he was worth the great try.

His short but monumentally eventful Eagles’ stay left the fans wondering why he had been overlooked in the first place. His superb tactical and technical awareness endeared him to many who hoped he had come to stay.

Many saw him as a natural successor to John Obi Mikel, whose Eagles’ numbers are fast counting and were confident he would fill in perfectly when Mikel eventually calls his Eagles’ time.

Eagles’ midfield has left one wondering when it will enjoy some assurance especially now that Mikel has been on and off.

Eagles’ midfield has been without Mikel since the former Chelsea midfielder walked off the pitch against Argentina in the last group game at Russia 2018 World Cup and not much cheer has trailed it.

Babatunde is a complete midfielder: daring, intelligent, bold, bullish, skillful and a consummate goal scorer. He’s never a midfielder to shy away from his responsibilities, he takes them headlong and with some measured assurance.

He chased financial security to Qatar but he didn’t seem to hold anything back as he proved his mettle big time at Brazil 2014.

He returned to Africa for the second time to pitch tents with his former club’s arch rivals, Wydad to continue where he left off after commanding the midfield with dexterity in the green half of Casablanca.

He has also refused to look back since he returned to Morocco to propel his multiple time Moroccan champions in the Botola Moroccan League and the CAF Champions League.

Rohr, you have seen much of this super talent, our patience is running out for his inclusion.

You will definitely be glad you did…
